When darkness comes... just hold on
Left alone in the woods one night,
The path I followed wasn't right.
It was clear, I had lost my way
On a trail that led me astray.

Darkness then began to appear
As black clouds moved ever so near.
The shadows grew as lightning flashed.
Gaining strength as each moment passed.

With greater force, the thunder strikes,
The rain beats hard upon my side.
Forcing me down into the mud.
Immersing all beneath its flood.

Fighting for breath, gasping for air.
Never before feeling so scared.
Cowering low beneath a tree.
Crying in shame and agony.

Overpowered by great despair,
The bitter darkness held me there.
An evil force too great to fight.
Whither my soul throughout this night?

While in that hour of grief and pain,
Pleading for mercy from disdain.
A wicked power at my feet.
My adverse fate about to meet.

Just in time, the morning dawn breaks.
Freeing my soul as I did wake.
Morning light discovered me there.
Forcing away what I can't bear.
