All of us wear a mask all the time. Why not discard it?
EMPTY MASK: a sonnet

A mask is what we wear all the day long,
Our real feelings we hide deep within.
We pose we are saintly and do no wrong,
Though in the mind we may harbour black sin.

“Can I help you”, said with a painted smile,
Often hides ‘could not care less’ attitude.
While thoughts we entertain inside are vile,
Outwardly we show too much gratitude.

It’s true that the world is too much with us;
For this world we put on a constant show.
How we look, about this we make a fuss;
Inside we are heartless, all of us know.

It’s time we reflect on it and we ask:
Should not we throw away this empty mask?
