A last exchange between a woman and her muse.
Hand & Heart

Come to me he sang
My muse,
I will give you wings

We will fly together
Hand and heart
I will give you words

Tears roll down my face
Years of pain,
Years of hate

Don’t cry my love
My angel my sweet,
I will give you peace

He took me into his open arms,
And yet, I pulled away
He smiled a loving, knowing smile, and turned to face a new day

You’ve done well,
My muse whispered to me
But now it is time to leave

He ascended to heaven
As if walking on clouds
But when he came to the gate he looked down

He stared longingly at me
Then smiling sadly
My muse sang

I loved you my hand
I lived in your heart
But now we will forever be apart

Pain took residence in his eyes
As he walked through the gates
I felt my heart begin to break

So alone I felt then
My heart had left me
My hand never drew words again

But still in my mind I hear at night
What song I cannot in my heart
He’s calling me, singing to me

Come to me
I will give you wings
We will fly together hand and heart I will give you words

Don’t cry my love
My angel my sweet
I will give you peace

I loved you my hand
I lived in your heart
But now we will forever be apart
