This is the first poem written at a coffee bar near my house.
the eyes
    from beneath the tree
    pale unknown
    unknowable
    glow in this noisy night
    into this cluttered

    galaxy of falsetto colored lights
    dangled draped
    drooping
    from branches high above
but the eyes
          your eyes
    the eyes they glitter in this noisy night
    and sparkling

    stars
from    between the tree
    amidst her tattered canopy mirror (mirror)
          reflecting
    wells in the eyes
              your eyes
    the eyes of sorrow and joy
    pale unknown

unknowable
