The glow of the fireworks
lit up your face.
The beauty,
as it smoothed
over your cheeks
and tinted
your features
red, white, and blue.

As the thunderous
'pop' boomed
throughout the stadium
you didn't even
wince,
while everyone
jumped.

Your face so
stern,
such beauty.
As I lean
against you,
what a
wonderful spectacle.
