A tongue in cheek look at myself!

Mirror Mirror

I look in the mirror.
Who is it I see?
I don't know the stranger
who stares back at me.

I do not need glasses!
I see her just fine.
But whoever's the face,
It ...cannot be mine!

Grey hair frames the features
where at one time there'd be
long locks of dark auburn
that shone and fell free.

I never had wrinkles.
Well...just the odd line.
Those bags 'neath the eyes, can
they really be mine?

My waist was as trim as
a waist ought to be.
Now, there's loads more to love
and much more to see.

There's no fun in ageing.
The kids of today
view old age with disdain.
We just get in the way.

I sit here and wonder,
did life pass me by?
There were so many things
that I didn't try.

So many things that I
could have accomplished.
A shortage of verve meant
another chance missed

Now this baby boomer
is trying to do
the things I missed out as
I stood in life's queue.

In the time alloted
I will try my best
to attempt the undone
and to hell with the rest.
