Something I wrote for my friend who passed away.
I stand here in the pouring rain
Staring down at the headstone of a loved one
Everything around me seems to be in slow motion
My world stopped when I heard the news
No one can tell that I'm crying
For my tears are hidden by the rain running down my face
I stand here in the bitter cold wind
My eyes locked on your picture
Reminiscing our jokes that we had together
Needing to hear your laugh again
Needing that one last arm wrestling competition that I would never win at
Becoming weak and whispering "it's not fair"
You never did anything wrong in life
You never hated anyone
I've done plenty wrong
I've hated most
I stand here in the pouring rain
Wishing it was you staring at my picture
Wishing you were the one breathing
For you had much more to live for
But I stay strong for you everyday
You help me look at things in more positive ways
I'm used to the rain and cold
Because in my world, the sun died a long time ago
