The unpleasant side of clubbing, and the relief of escape
My eyes: surprised.
My ears: offended.
My skin: too hot.
My throat: too dry.
The music pounding,
The air vibrating:
Hot.
Dark.
Sweaty.

Too many cigarettes later,
I walk
Out into the air.
It assaults me,
Tearing my clothes
Clawing at my hair.

Thankfullness flows throughout.
I gasp the air in gulps.
Drink the silence
(such as it is in a city at night!).
The cold, the damp, the streetlights:
Refreshing.

The rain starts – dark, thick drops.
Cold and wet, pouring down.
Streetlights obscured, I stand,
Enjoying my enclosure.
Free of the others.
Alone.
