A poem.... written in Williamsburg, KY USA ca. Winter 2006
Fairy Wives

And so you took a fairy girl to wife
Her gown was made of infant skin
Her crown was woven of dead flowers
Your fingers touched her hollow back
As she laughed and spun upon her heels
And one day became seven days
And seven days became seven years

Now she sops up blood with bread
As her lips part in simulated mirth
Sweet white milk flows in her veins
A hot tongue touches a cold tongue
As she takes you in her lily arms
And one day becomes seven days
And seven days become seven years
