Love: that treacherous foe.
Surrounded my heart in stone and steel,
Building barricade after barricade
to ensure its safety.
Never vulnerable,
Until now.
Ensnared by the one thing I thought I could always escape:
Love.
That treacherous foe;
Knocking down walls and breaking through barricades,
Dodging everything I throw in its path to slow it down.
How could a heart so protected be invaded by such a weak foe?
Maybe love is stronger than it appears.
It conquered me.
And now it’s left me here, alone,
In the ruins of my guarded heart.
