It's strange how I lost you without knowing, despite still feeling you here...
I hope so bad that I end up breaking,
Telling myself that the pain is my price,
To see one last time, that fading morning,
That you stood at the edge, singing your song,
How beautiful I found you, wrapped in mist,
Tears like crystals fozen in time,
Upon your pale skin they fell and faded,
Lost in a memory we left far behind,
The days grew longer, the nights turned cold,
And there you stood looking upon the waves,
Forward and further they reached out to you,
Then away and in farewell they bade you goodbye,
I kept my eyes closed whenever you turned,
Perhaps you thought I was asleep,
But the brieftest moments that I let you see me,
Perhaps you hoped that who you saw wasn't me,
And the wind sang softly, repeating your song,
I turned away and let those words hold me down,
Until one day I decided to face it,
And saw that the singer was nowhere to be found,
Now I stand in my shadow, listening to the wind,
A faint reminder of your days long gone,
I keep wondering when it was, that you disappeared,
And left behind that song that haunts the wind,
Was it when you started to let your tears fall free?
Or was it when the waters engulfed your form?
Somehow, you managed to slip away silent,
Without warning and without goodbye,
What I thought was the overlap of your song and the winds,
Was my own sorrow singing along with the night,
Did I make a mistake by letting you fall?
By saying to myself that it was better to let you deal?
Was I supposed to drag you from the edge?
And yell at you until you let go of all your fears,
But now, I guess it remains a mystery,
If saving you would've meant anything,
Somewhere I pray you still sing your music,
Looking out upon the seas,
Eyes still crying and hands still broken,
Hoping to see the one your heart still yields,
Hoping to see the love you still yearn,
Taking each day that passes into your arms,
And letting it kill you,
Letting it tear you to pieces,
Praying the pain would be worth it,
For one last chance to see the fading horizon,
I hope so hard my heart breaks and bleeds,
Telling myself that the pain is my price,
In the heart of all that tortures,
I hope with whatever breath I have left,
To see you once more,
Against the dawn,
Hoping that maybe in some way,
As you stand there, crying,
Somehow, your tears,
Could be falling for me too.
