DARK AS THE NIGHT

Alone in the darkness, I struggled to find
a peace I had lost, a love for mankind.
Down on my knees I asked for release
of the pain I felt, I begged for it to cease.

Does God hear prayers of a sinner like me?
Tears came as I thought of Him at Calvary.
The crown of thorns, the wounds He bore,
the cries He uttered were hard to ignore.

The price He paid on the cross that day
led many to follow Him along the way.
Yet some, like me, continued to sin
and forgetting to let His love sink in.

In darkness I wandered for many a year,
living with anger, heartache and fear.
My soul was lost, as dark as the night.
Would I ever again awake to the light?

His mercy is boundless, His love alive!
I had no need to worry how I'd survive.
Morning came softly, darkness was done,
A sinner like me was saved by the Son.

PRAISE GOD!
