A poem that shows an interesting sweet struggle.
Dessert Dreams

As I went to bed to slumber,
Filled with sleeping drugs galore,
My mind jumped back to diets
And the figure I always hoped for.

My eyelids floated downward.
My muscles came to rest.
My mind thought only of goodies,
And all the pounds that I possessed.

I felt the chilly sensation.
Saw an ice cream mountain of white,
A river of brown fudge moving,
That did wonders to my appetite.

Next came a strawberry milk shake.
With prize bits all red and sweet.
A yellow straw stood inviting,
My mouth to partake the great treat.

A final dish was hidden,
Behind the luscious things I saw.
The gold crust of the steaming pastry
Held my taste buds in special awe.

My hand was cold and shaking.
As I reached for the dessert delight.
The dishes moved farther and farther
Then vanished into sudden daylight.

My husband came in to wake me.
His smile was a pleasure to see.
The twinkle in his eyes was a reminder,
Lose ten pounds and I get a shopping spree!
