About the overpowering darkness that can burden the soul
Dreams vanish into the abyss
Darkness rapidly descends
Tears stream down my face
Torturing the flesh beneath

Away foul creatures of imagination
Alight yourselves on another soul
Too long in night have I dwelt
Too long alone have I remained

The light now seems unapproachable
Its beauty too far from my grasp
Could it be though, that what I seek
would reveal horror unbeknownst to me?

I take a leap only to fall back
This reality seems nearly out of reach
With bravery unforseen I struggle
Every movement adding burden to my soul

Finally the light lies ahead
Rushing I seek out its warm embrace

The beams glance upon my skin
A pain unexplained by words descends.
My eyes burn, my skin shrieks
It forces my retreat.

From light I run, back towards
the sweet embrace of the abyss

In darkness I stand and there I shall remain.
