A little girl waiting to discover her prize...
The Prize

I had a box in my hand
It was a prize given to me
Wrapped in pink it was
I held it tightly in my hands

I did not know what was in
It felt light but something was in
Could be a toy
Or something that kind

It was a puzzle though
In my mind
As I walked up to the stage
Of what I would get

Something I had not seen
Something not told to me
Surprise it was meant to be
Carefully thought that I would like

As I walked down with the box
All the time my thought was
On the thing inside
It felt nice to hold

It held a mystery
A suspense of unknown
It felt a shape
Just seen a square box

Wrapped in pink ribbon also it was
Conveying delicately with love
Knowing my tender most feelings
And waiting for me to discover

My mind was in it
From the moment
It was announced
That I had one a prize

I had passed those
Eager and anxious moments
With all my mind on it
I held it to be one of honour and pride

I walked to the clapping hands
Shook hands and heard my name
Being read out in honour
My thoughts came back to what was in luck for me

I saw it then for the first time
It seemed going by my dreams
Matching my hopes and plans
I took it with a bow

As I walked home carrying
The box I felt a pleasure of
Waiting to discover what I did not know now
And to find something of my dreams as a child.
