The struggle of time and love
The grandfather clock chimes once again,
The crescent moon with its toothy grin,
Over and over and over it seems,
The stars show off their brilliant gleam.

The night never changes the sky stays the same,
The flame flickers quicker than it ever came.
What’s happened is hard to comprehend,
I looked through a kaleidoscope from the wrong end.

Trees sway as one and leaves dance around,
I still applaud at their orchestral sound,
The sun still shines down on the gardens and strands,
It kisses the daisies but dares not our hands.

Recorded laughs and waxy smiles,
One of yours still takes me miles,
Thick and thin through rough and flat,
Staring at the couch where we once sat.

One years time will dash away,
The slower it flees the longer I’ll stay,
Through some fun, some tears and some stains,
The sand in the timer is smaller than grain.

Never enough time, clocks tick much too swift,
The moons are too hasty, the stars want to drift.
I want to stay for as long as we need,
Life’s pulling me through, up, over, god-speed.

I wish I was the sky so we could just be,
No need to part and no need to flee.
You’d be the moon and I’d be a star,
Never away and never too far.
