In the eyes of children in poverty.
As we twirl,
And sing and dance,
The rain pours down,
And the mud starts to swirl.

This not fun to us,
This is hope,
For a better day,
We sing -

Can we have
A blanket please,
Or a jacket to keep us warm -

How about a slice of bread,
Or some fruit,
To keep us fed.

As rain pours down,
Each drop is ours,
A tear of hunger,
Of cold and pain.

We ask not for money,
But for food,
And warmth,
And a place to stay.

We wish for freedom -
For peace from poverty.
