Dream of me
When the frost forms on the windowpanes
And the snowflakes tumble down,
When all you can hear is the breath of the wind,
But of people, nary a sound,

When the moon rides the sky in a spill of warm light,
Casting icy shadows onto the sea,
When the temperature’s so low, your breath shows in the air,
Please stop and dream of me.

When the flowers start to open their petals
In a profusion of violets, pinks, and reds,
When springtime flourishes, and balmy weather
Starts to fill your head,

When bumblebees buzz through drowsy air,
And perfume-laden flowers nestle among the trees,
When the sun beams mellow, warm light on you,
Please smile and dream of me.

When sprinklers mist dry gray sidewalks,
And children run and play,
When every morning’s a new adventure,
And freedom’s every day,

And the only showers are gentle warm rains,
Releasing pollen for the bees,
When the sunshine heats up the days,
Please laugh and dream of me.

When the air just starts to be frosty and chilled,
And the sun sinks down low in the evening,
When orange-yellow flames spark high in the night,
A bonfire around which you sing,

When the leaves turn red and orange and brown,
And drift down from the trees,
When the wind starts to crackle through bare, frozen branches,
Please sigh and dream of me.

No matter what the season,
You’re the only one I see,
All through the cold and heat and rain,
Please, always, dream of me.
