The drive on I-15...
I-15

Dusk is embraced by the inanimate desert and the clouds hang still.
The sun kisses the horizon and illuminates the open landscape,
Casting warm shadows on the solitary route to the other side.
Scored with cracks is the ground, owing to lack of rain
And the desert scrub fills the spaces in between.

There is nothing but abandon for miles around
With the odd filling garage on the tedious skyline,
And the outdated signposts, pointing to nowhere.
Inviting derelict buildings are left untouched
The Max Payne toilets at the garage occupied.

Acting only as a gateway to another world,
The melting road to California
Eats its way, relentlessly,
Through the transfixing plateau of the Mojave Desert.
