A poem about first meeting, one sided love, and the end of love.
Love is an illusion, an affair of the mind.
Smoke and mirrors in a crowded room.
The journey begins, destination unknown.
Apprehension and tension, uncertainty abounds.

The past is the present, her disposition scared.
A war torn heart in the shadows lurk.
Hardened by mishap, anticipating angst.
A paramour begrudging of unwanted caution.

The passing of time brings yet another casualty.
He will play, no matter the expense.
Confidence and charisma, both masks worn well.
Insecurities are hidden beneath the surface.

The diversion was over just as it began.
One life unconcerned with the other.
One heart crushed as the wall grows stronger, higher.
Reflection and healing, a new journey shall begin.
