A poem about a killer

Hell Or The Wrath Of God?

I saw them charging overhead,
clouds of cavalry,
crossing skies of crimson red
in abstract gallantry.

But Hell is here and with it's birth
evil permeates the air
and night is falling on the earth,
I'm sadly unaware.

Thunder heads heard on the mountain,
lightning scribes the distant sky,
reflections flowing in the fountain,
the winds are churning high.

The clouds collide so violently
and rage against the night
as volleys fire endlessly,
they blind me with their light.

Now the rain is falling sideways,
a deluge by the sheet,
hail bounces on the highways,
I fear there's no retreat.

Then suddenly the night is calm,
it's coming and I know,
sweat is clammy on my palm,
the twister's strength will grow.

The wind increases in the fray,
the storm will wage it's worst,
a friend called havoc ends the day;
what's left behind is cursed.

"The wrath of God" is what they said,
some had no place to hide
and they were found among the dead,
the rest of us just cried.

So now I'll try to hide my fright
as day comes to an end,
will Hell stop by to kill tonight;
a loved one or a friend?
