Furthering a relationship to the next level.
She was lounging in the den, waiting for the door
to close. She watched as he sat in a chair.

Rain soaked the lilac bushes.

He eyed her like prey,
although he had yet to propose properly.

She gazed warily.

He inquired everyday
When will you let me into your heart?
She understood his words, she decided not to answer.

Without words
she knew they were soulmates,
but her body showed no signs of that

except her heart pumped faster, a smile
was threatening to peak, a playfulness
in her eyes.

The pitfalls?

He worried what the future would behold.
She would inquire
and what was dangerous

had to be forgotten, the past.
Hadn't she had enough for one day?
She couldn't leave her family,

escape with him to Europe,
the countries of myths, legends.
Or hide in his expanse mansion.

Lucifer whispers inside her mind, but
her heart cries out, barriers crumbling.

This dance of theirs began in July,
he needed her over time, even before it began
the attraction was there awaiting another unexpected meeting.

They tell themselves

Love's the reason to be cautious
it's an emotion more powerful than one's mind,
the choice to falter by the charms of a stranger.

Right now, she contemplates his proposal.

Nothing is what it was,
the rain ceased drowing the lilacs,
the doors to the den opening, a glare in his
direction, pinning him from leaving her family's estate.
