arrested in a foreign country
Once I was in a land of illusion,
where thoughts wandered without confusion.

I was feeling good and finally free,
showing this place an inner part of me.

Enjoying life without a word being spoken,
unaware of the law I had broken.

Confronted by authority that did not understand,
shattering my dreams with their forceful demands.

Taken to a place I did not belong,
I had honestly felt I had done nothing wrong.

Cold lines of steel began to close,
sweat on my face had already froze.

I stared blindly at concrete walls,
while empty cells echoed my calls.

I felt an urge to carve my name,
as others before me had done the same.

Waves of silence expanded my mind,
dreams of yesterday left far behind.
