The imprisonment of busy-ness
Prison

I am a prisoner of busyness.
I am chained to an unrelenting barrage of activity,
responsibilities,
commitments.

My sentence demands more hours than exist in a day.
Each morning’s promise is a tease
as I peer through the bars of duties that detain me.
I am in solitary confinement
without time for family, friend or fun.

From the pit of my soul I scream,
“Where is the key to unlock my cell door?”
