A poem about a lost memory
Long Road Home

First light is rising up ahead. I drift into yesteryear,
thinking of good times that have already fled.
.
I wish for things to be like they where back then,
but I glance in the mirror and know it can never be again.

Sounds of laughter fill my mind,
a smile crosses my face and chills run down my spin.

A thought of my father and my mother back in the old home,
yet here I am still on the roam.

Where did I go wrong,
what did I do?

Happiness is merely a memory that I cannot find.
Yet, it is here racing threw my mind.

I long for days that have passed me by,
sometimes I feel I could cry.

Why do I feel so alone?
I asked God to please show me that long road home!
