Once there, do you ever really come back.
A Veterans Voice

Is it fear that swells within thoughts once obscured by hate
As I sit and ponder those who made the choice
Ones who live by the common thread find it difficult to relate
Yet fall silent when they hear a veterans voice

Shells of pride and sovereignty lay scattered in the dust
Lost souls reach out and beg the question why
If not for you it would be me, my promise you can trust
Yet I honour you. As your last breath leaves, I cry.

Judge not what you don't understand, we never had the choice
Opinions are a priviledge we can't share
The deafening sounds of silence still find anger in my voice
For I hate the fear that obscures my thoughts of there.
