One of the many poems in my book
Come and take an adventurous journey with me
I want 2 tell you the story of my black history
I have traced the roots of my lifeless ancestors
And they led me across the burning sands 2 Africa
Our own black people turned over each other’s lives
As if they didn’t know what they were doing wasn’t right
We were captured and then taken from our land
With a rope tied around our necks and our hands
Brought 2 a new world, so our bodies could be sold
The only thing they couldn’t take from us were our souls
They put us in the fields and used us 2 pick their cotton
Called us boy and Nigga like our names were 4gotten
We fought 4 our freedom with guns in the wild
White men rapped our women then we we’re force to bore their child
They call this place America, the land of the free and home of the brave
But the only freedom you get is where you go after they put you in the grave.
