Beyond the Stars

The stars at night shine so bright,
but don't you know they're city lights?
Trying hard to stay in sight;
On they shine with all their might.

Stuck inside tall buildings there,
way up high, up in the air,
the people long since disappeared
from streets that lack the proper care.

But, oh! How children used to play,
up all night, asleep by day,
with moonbeams there to light the way
the nightmares would not dare to stay.

Where have all the children gone?
The skies are empty far to long.
Chased away by wretched things;
an end to hope, an end to dreams.

Will you fly beyond the stars,
to lands where there are no more wars?
To search for peace along the way,
and find the hope that's gone astray?
