GOING HOME

Through time and tears I reached a revelation,
found my way out of the past to my destination.
I boarded a train that took me far from the city,
I have lived too long in trouble and self-pity,
I am going home.

It doesn't matter where or why I roam,
there never will be any place like home -
It's Springtime there with buds on the trees,
friendly faces to greet and a life of ease.
I am going home.

There's a little church where I used to sing,
memories echo in my mind, I love the Spring
when new beginnings happen everyday
for folks like me who have lost their way.
I am going home.

As I walked along the long awaited street
the smell of freedom was really sweet
and my burdens dropped along the way..
God's in His Heaven, all is well this day.
I am going home.

With tears of joy I saw where I was wrong
and I vowed to change to a happy song.
What's done is done, no turning back
to an endless ride on the railorad track.
I am home.
