A poem inspired partly (and fairly indirectly) by the death of a favorite character.
Resurrection

Take whatever you need from me
My flesh, my blood, my bone,
I’d give it all to make you whole,
Just don’t leave me here alone

You’re the only art I see
What good’s an eye if you’re not here?
Your voice, the only melody
If it’s not there, what good’s an ear?

If tears you need, I’d give them gladly
I only cry when you are gone.
(You see, I’d give up everything,
If losing my life let you live on.)

My tongue is just a piece of meat
Unless yours is the ear that hears,
And better I should give it up,
You know I hate the taste of tears.

The skin, when I was by your side,
Which yearned to reach and touch your own,
If there’s nothing left it desires to feel,
It may as well be made of stone.

And if you want, you can take my feet
I’ll give them up, I’ve a good excuse,
If it’s not with you, there’s no place worth going,
And static feet have really no use.

And lastly my blood, if you need that too,
And my heart (which was already yours)
They’re only aching in my chest,
Better in yours that they should course.

When you think you’ve lost it all
Open your eyes and you will see
Though nothing’s left that once was yours,
You still have every part of me.
