FREEDOM: Through My Eyes


Forthwith my men into the fray
Be strong of mind and will
For we will triumph on this day
When those we seek are still.

Clutching to a memory trapped
In dirt beneath my feet
From which side I cannot tell
If only he could speak.

What is the point of coming
When returning seems unfair
For those who now sleep soundly
Is this freedom or despair?

I’m proud of all I have achieved
Thankful for where I’ve been
To help a mate get home alive
That’s what Freedom means to me.
