A piece I wrote while in Ronald McDonald House...
The Father's Prize Flowers

One lone Gerbera daisy
in a field full of Shasta
This daisy stands
positive of its solitude
Solidly entrenched in
the belief that no one understands or cares.

One timely tulip
opens and reaches
tirelessly for the Sun
Clad in the deepest velvety purple
the tulip stands as an example of natural beauty

One tall and fully bloomed Glad
leaning up against the garden wall
Always hiding from whatever gifts
the day may bring
for fear of being driven into the dust.

One simple stubborn Mum
Standing as a banner of color
Amongst the dry and blowing leaves
Bright vibrant and beautiful
it grows and spreads beauty
across an otherwise barren landscape.

How do you bloom?
Where do you grow?
Do you appreciate that you are one of
The Father's prize flowers?
