A poem that was written on accident
An exit sign flickers without a purpose
In an underground subway station
The atmosphere- dark, lonely

No one is smiling.
Wherever they are going
It is a place where they don't want to go.
The train nears the platform.

No one is looking.
The place is full of hanging heads and shut eyes.
Few children are present and yet it is silent.
The train stops and opens its doors.

No one is moving.
The doors stay open, waiting,
Holding the passageway from life-
To some other place
The train remains quiet.

Everyone is crying.
They know where they are going- and why.
They walk involuntarily, there's no way back
The train rolls on.
