Searching For Love

They say some people are born to be alone,
Is it true, I do not know.
All my life I have felt alone,
Maybe it is so.

I have always felt like a ship
adrift on the open sea.
Looking and searching for a place,
that was meant just for me.

Then one day adrift on the water,
with a heavy mist all around.
I saw what I was looking for,
straight ahead of me was you and solid ground.

It was you I saw in the distance,
I could barely see you there,
I tried so hard to reach you
but the winds would not be fair.

I cried out to you from
the depths of my heart,
but as fate would have it
the winds kept us apart.

Then as the sun rose higher
and the mist cleared all around,
I looked and searched to no avail,
you were nowhere to be found.

So maybe I am a loner
and will forever be,
Alone forever more
adrift on the open sea.

Maybe someday I'll see you again
on some distant shore,
and the winds of fate
will bring us together for evermore.
