A tribute to my Grandmother
She was the one who took me in
And loved me till her end,
She tried to teach me all I needed to know about life
And how to be a friend.

She loved me, fed me, clothed me
And taught me not to fight,
She was the one who held me
When the demons came at night.

She's the one who took me to church on Sundays
So I could learn about the Golden Rule,
She taught me to have compassion
And said never to be cruel.

She was always there for me
To teach me about life,
She told me how to be a good mother
And a loving wife.

She was always there and defended me
Even when I was wrong,
She gave me unconditional love
And support my whole life long.

The angels came and took her
In August of 1969,
I am her legacy
That she left behind.

The years have come and gone
Since she went away,
But I carry all she taught me
In my heart today.

The heartache of losing her
Will never go away,
It seems I miss her more now
Than I did just yesterday.
