There may be much good in those whom we judge.
JUDGE NOT

Who is true and who is false?
Who is real, who is fake?
In judging people we may
Often commit a mistake.

Who is right and who is wrong?
Who is good and who is bad?
To decide issues like this,
Much fighting people have had.

So much good’s there in the worst,
So much bad’s there in the best;
It’s too hard to know, of us,
Who ought to reform the rest.

Judge not that you be not judged,
Try not that you be not tried.
Though someone else be accused,
We, too, have often connived.

Man was made in His image,
So that he may do the deed
Commanded by Him, without
Doubting others’ faith or creed.

We should just do our duty,
And not care for the result,
Nor try to influence it,
Nor in idleness exult.

* The last stanza specifically refers to the essential message of Hinduism, enshrined in chapter 2, verse 47, of Gita [pronounced—Geethaa], one of the core books of Hindu religion: “Do your duty; don’t covet the reward; don’t to be a means of getting the reward; but, beware, don’t ever be idle”.
