What's on the outside isn't always the same as what we are feeling.
Thoughts increase
Temper slows
As the mind thinks
Sanity goes and goes

We're trying to learn
Whether we're right or wrong
Our minds go crazy
And nothing is strong

But then the band starts and the curtains open
So we put on a different face
One that comes from a different place

For we hide our emotions
And pretend to be free
Because these thoughts that are going through our heads
Are not what the audience came to see

They sit in their seats and watch the show
Laughing and smiling, but oh, how little they know
The thoughts that go on deep inside
All the thoughts that we try to hide

And when the curtain falls
We escape back to that place
When what we feel shows on our face
Because those who watch have left their seats
They liked what they saw, all lies, all cheats

And so we go home, not taking in what we see
But trying to find the best way to live our lives
So we can be free
