This is my effort to write a sonnet dedicated to a little friend who died.
Sonnet for Homewood

My paradise was shattered yesterday.
The heavens opened up and took you in.
I wanted just to see your smile again,
But cried upon your bier, the place you lay.
No other voice was heard to weep your loss.
My mind was stunned beyond the sounds I cried.
The awful pain of death I saw reside,
Because a place of heaven you did cross.

You go there now because it was your time.
I must believe you wanted most to stay.
But mysteries are more than just sublime.
You gave to me in your own special way.
I'll cherish all our moments in meantime.
And see you as I pray for you each day.
