A poem from the point of view of Aphrodite, Greek goddess of love.
As the great sun monarch rises
above the ever-changing sea,
I walk across the swirling waves.
The Three Graces visit me,
me more graceful than they.
I gaze at Helios
riding 'round the round earth
on his sun chariot,
a fiery stallion harnessed.

A drifting figure is what everyone sees,
shining brighter than a star,
more beautiful than anything on earth or off.

The golden sand crumbles under my feet,
and I see!
I see a glass bottle,
rocking forlornly in the waves.

An old paper flies out,
and into my hand,
with its secret.

"Will you marry me?"
