It describes how millions of people lost in the stream of life, are forgotten eventually.
All day long he would beg for alms in the cold and heat,
Only in the heavy rain does he retreat.
Old from age, weary of life,
Weak and lean, deaf and blind.
No one noticed him at all-
And by him all would stroll.
Except the lady who came in a car and then zoomed away
But gave him a coin or two to keep him going for the day.
But his own son would snatch it away
As a due for sheltering him another day!
So tears roll down his cheeks as he walks about
Remembering when he was strong and stout
Cherishing dreams of his son being a famous man
Never suspecting his life of misery began,
When his son became a local robber
And his own father did he make a beggar-
By proving him to be guilty of the crimes done
Never realising his duty as son.
So now he walked alone on the road,
With no love,family and abode.
But suddenly he stumbles;and falls
As his old age takes its toll.
He lies down in the drain, relishing the cool water
And knowing that it no longer matters
His time to go is here
Without anyone,loving and near.
He sighs and then a smile dawns on his lips once more
As he is laid to rest forevermore.
His eyes roll up, his hand limply falls
And he joins the Almighty in his hall.
But no one remembers him, but perhaps the kind lady who came everyday-
And gave him a coin or two before zooming away.
