A poem about individuality and being yourself.
I don’t have the designer clothes.
And I don’t spend hours on my hair.
I’m not part of a ‘tight clique’,
But why in the world do you care?

I’m not into the hip, new music,
And I don’t act like everyone else.
After all, how can you be someone different,
If you don’t even know yourself?

I don’t care what people think of me.
Or what they have to say.
I don’t care if you don’t understand me.
I don’t expect you to anyway.

I’m not the smartest or prettiest girl.
Does that make me an outcast?
Nor am I the funniest girl,
Does that mean that I won’t last?

Maybe I’m not admired,
Or even looked up to.
Nor am I a duplicate.
That’s the difference between me and you.

I’m not exactly normal,
And your opinion is not desired.
But when I signed the contract of life,
Being normal was not required.
