What could have been a song but wasn't...
No longing
No ache
Can be enough
To keep me away

If the sea
Were to ravage me
I’ll push against it
In hopes of being returned to thee

No guilty conscience
No nagging voice of reason
Can unclasp the deadly hold
You have on me

If the earth
Were to swallow me whole
I’d hope to become a stone
So as to be embedded
In the very road you step on

And if you and I
Were to one day sever
It’ll be for the best
Even though
You’d leave a winner
With half of everything I was
Everything I am
Everything I will ever be
