The deceptive power of alcohol
            "Alcohol"

Swallow down, my lonesome desire,
I make love to you each night.
And when the world feels so very wired,
you're there to make it right.

I dance and sing, dreaming of you,
caressing  you with my hands.
And when we dance, I'm not a fool,
each swallow says that I can.

You stood by me, when I was crying,
were there for every loss.
and in my hand, when close to dying,
you were like, the one I missed the most.

Where did you go, when my friends left,
and when I was sick for days?
When I asked God to help me find,
the best kind of life that saves?

And when the jail walls closed in,
did you really care for me then?
And when my mind said, "no more sin?"
where were you, my juicy friend?

You fooled me into feeling fine,
when all at once I tried.
Years passed by, while all the time,
you really were not by my side.

So I sobered up, just enough,
and my head began to clear.
Got off the pity pot, and got tough,
and heard a whisper in my ear.

"Give love to me, my lonesome child,
and listen now to my voice.
Take my hand , dance and smile,
your life has made a choice."

And on that day I started to live,
for real happiness now shows.
The bottle really had nothing to give,
so now by God's hand, I go.
