a poem about inner strength
         Sanctuary

There is a place I go, in times of stress
A calm in the wind, out of the storm
Somewhere to rest, to gather myself
To heal, to renew, to plan

This place is unnamed, with no boundaries
It is safe harbour, yet unguarded
There are no doors, but seclusion exists
There is no strength inside except that brought in
Yet weakness is not there unless desire calls it in

There are tools aplenty, but none seem at hand
Pride and prejudice bounce back as from a magnet
Creativity passes through, as does clarity
And focus is forged without sound or fire
Save that of the intensity of will

Does this exist for all humankind then,
I cannot know truly for sure
Can it be given freely ,
Or passed on from one to another
To this, I believe the answer is a resounding ‘Yes’

To true name in my old tongue, held the power
To bend it to your will, to call and have response
So then, we must know this name
This special place, this universe for all

With no religion, no colour, no gender
No strings, no caveats, no age
It comes with confidence and surety of purpose built in

I name it “Faith”
