As I See Me

I press to hold consistent imagery,
But, honestly many see my image in varied perspective,
They look upon me and say:
There is that guy, who’s intelligent,
This is my child,
John’s a Pretty decent feller.

But would your opinion change if you could see me as I see me?
If you knew what I’m really thinking,
Then you spent time with all of which I have,
Partaken of each substance I have held,
Do you see how close I have been tickled by hells flames yet?

Perhaps you join me in taking a trip to the mirror as I see me.
Do you see scares that have resulted from stupidity?
Are you able to look past the infirmities?
And don’t forget to notice all of which isn’t appealing.
This my appearance,
What do you think?

Will you look upon the deeper levels as I can see?
Look upon what I desire,
See my tattered heart,
And feel my dreams; those crushed and longed after still yet,
Can you love me?

You have thought as I do of me,
And glimpsed toward a developing perspective,
Thank God I am not my judge.
Will you still be in my presence?
I may be cleaned and new and I may not be the same John,
But humans are quick to remember failures.
You only think you know me,
Because you can’t see me as I see me.
