An insight into a bipolar depressed mind.
The Pit
Josh Fink

This is the deepest, darkest pit you’ll ever be in. This black hole swallows all happiness and ensures despair. You look up, and there’s no light. You climb anyway. The walls are covered with sharp, jagged rocks that scrape every part of your body. You can’t see either. You feel around, looking for handholds, and everything you grab onto hurts you. The blood drains from you, and you’re so very tired of trying. You can’t take it anymore. You fall, and hit the ground hard. You feel around, looking for a reason to stay alive. Your hand closes around cold hard steel. Anger floods through you. You scream, firing wildly into the dark, determined to hurt anything and everything that is capable of hurting you. You fire until your bullets are wasted. You burst into tears and feel like such a worthless sack of shit. You can’t take it. Sobbing, you climb into the hole you always knew was there. It’s six feet deep: the perfect size. As the dirt fills in the hole, you finally see the light. Then, darkness.
