Another attempt at a Ghazal

Summer’s Gone - A Ghazal

Balmy days are passing through, summer’s gone.
Trees take on their autumn hue, summer’s gone.

A rich and vibrant carpet covers all.
Naked branches now on view, summer’s gone.

Let's give thanks for a plentiful harvest.
Offerings of what we grew. Summer’s gone.

Days diminish as winter rushes in.
Daylight hours are just a few, summer’s gone

Winter’s cold grip now steals across the land
Turning toes and fingers blue, summer’s gone.

Within the firelight’s glow, I’ll hold you close
And evoke the love we knew summers gone.

Rhythm. 10 - 10
Refrain.  summer’s gone
Rhyme.  Through, hue, view, grew, few, blue, knew.
