sometimes the truth is what we fear most
Her face is always bright and happy, she never fails to smile
She seems to be happy when she’s laughing but that is all guile.
Underneath is an emptiness, a darkness does reside
Something she has had to become adept enough to hide.

What is this thing that is lurking, she refuses to give it a name
For if she does it will surface and make her go insane.
So it bides its time, this secret she keeps, it continues to lie in wait
For it knows one day it will be strong enough, and for her it will be too late.

It pops up from time to time, slowly weakening her resolve
No matter how hard she fights this thing refuses to dissolve
This tenacious monster is now a part of her being, its slowly taking hold
It will continue to stalk and haunt her, leaving her weakened and cold

But its not only the secret she is fighting, its fear as well
In order to fight this thing she needs to admit the truth, which is terrifying
So she runs away, and continues to get lost in her own personal hell.

Her face is always bright and happy, she never fails to smile
She seems to be happy when she’s laughing, but that is all guile
The truth lies in her eyes, look deep, you will see
The eyes show the lost and fearful, taunted person that is me.
