For the 100 words no repeat contest...
It was a scorching hot August afternoon and the residents of Bracken Road had retreated thankfully into their cool, shady houses. Many threw upstairs windows wide, praying there would be one refreshing breeze though that seemed unlikely given overall stillness externally.
    Mrs. Ellen Hargreaves proved no exception. She sat beside her kitchen window sill, looking out at gardens beyond where nobody passed.  This lady sighed, irritated, for once green grass now grew yellow; caused by severe drought. Ignoring recent hosepipe bans, aforementioned annoyed woman headed outside, to enable turf sprinklers, nodding in satisfaction as parched lawn happily received welcome water.
