Wolfs Breath in Me

Paw struck silently between blades of grass
Lifting away, leaving only scent impression
Refreshed again at a fast lope
Intent on the nights business
Shadow was not there, flitted by eyes
Uncannily aware, watchful, vigilant
Driven by robust chest covered
In dense coat,shimmered with silver
Dappled moving quicksilver in form


Then still…eerie tenseness.. reigns down
Regal form coalesces slowly from shadow
Ghost named by Cree and Iroquois
Devil by the destroyers of all that is clean
Shaped in the ruins of time immortal
Wondered and feared and desired
Hated, dreaded, needed, begged
Bursting with boiling white hot blood

Sound breaks the plane of existence
Shattering the air with the power
The call to family unseen near yet so far
Chord resounds in deep mind structure
My head lifts against my will
Intense struggle and then
The return cry erupts from my throat
Linking forever to the shadow there
Who turns and glides to me
Eyes locked, eternity in a flash

Muzzle to throat we lift together
And the call goes out
Shaking the forest, damning the prey
Those who would destroy
And we move slowly, easily at first
Sinew and muscle in concert
Tuned to the sound of air pumped in ancient running rythym
Driven, seeking, faster, excited, blinding adrenalin
...Satiation, stiff legged strut....
And the concert echoes for all ears to hear
We are not alone




For my poet soul mate...... SoNNetWoLF..... I bring life, light, and music to the Dark Side, tho' you named me Dark Master... I am He who brings the Light to the Dark and runs with wolves..
